Live demo
This is the widget itself, rendered on this page for the United States. Pick another country below to see it update.
Embed it
Paste this where you want the card to appear. Replace US with the country's 2-letter ISO code (or its BankHolidayCheck slug, e.g. united-states).
<div class="bhc-holiday-widget" data-country="US"></div>
<script src="https://bankholidaycheck.com/widget.js" async></script>
The script only looks for elements with the bhc-holiday-widget class, so one script tag renders every widget on the page, including several different countries.
Attributes
| Attribute | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
data-country | Yes | A 2-letter ISO country code (US, GB, DE...) or a BankHolidayCheck country slug (united-states) |
data-lang | No | One of en (default), es, fr, de, pt, it, nl, pl |
data-endpoint | No | Override the data source URL. Leave this out; it defaults to BankHolidayCheck's own feed |
How it works
- The widget renders inside a Shadow DOM with inline, namespaced styles, so it cannot clash with your site's CSS and your CSS cannot leak into it.
- Data comes from a small JSON feed,
/api/widget-data, cached for six hours and open to any origin (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *). - No cookies, no tracking script beyond the fetch itself, nothing stored in the visitor's browser.
- Prefer raw JSON instead of a rendered widget? See the free Holiday API, which powers this feed.
Terms
The widget is free to embed on any site, with no usage cap beyond ordinary fair use. The one condition is keeping the "Data by BankHolidayCheck" attribution link visible and linked; nothing else is required. Data is provided as-is, refreshed annually, and should not be relied on for contractual or legal deadlines without checking an official source.
