Why holidays matter in the count

A 10-working-day deadline that crosses Easter, Golden Week or Eid is not 14 calendar days - and a bank transfer will not settle on any of those days either. This calculator uses the same holiday dataset as the rest of BankHolidayCheck, covering 155 countries with each country's actual work week (including Fri-Sat weekends across the Middle East).

How the business-day count is worked out

How are business days calculated?

Both dates are included. Weekend days are excluded using the country's actual work week (Sat-Sun in most countries, Fri-Sat in much of the Middle East), and every nationwide public holiday that falls on a working day is also excluded, using our holiday dataset covering 150+ countries.

Why do other business-day calculators give different numbers?

Most calculators only skip weekends, or only know US federal holidays. This one uses each country's real public holiday calendar, so a Germany calculation excludes German holidays and a Japan calculation excludes Japanese ones.

Does it work for payment and transfer planning?

Yes - that is what it was built for. Bank transfers settle on business days only, so counting the real business days between two dates, including holidays on both ends of an international transfer, tells you when money actually arrives.
